(06.06.2014) „What does the Gospel mean for you?“ – with this key question the workshop in English „'What does Gospel mean again? - Approaches to the Gospel in the year of confession" started after a short common prayer conducted by Jörg Schmid and Tobias Sprenger.
Admittedly, the seminar room divided off with movable walls in the first floor of the Event-Arena is not a room of silence. You can hear voices of many people, playing instruments, applauding and the visitors coming into the different events. But isn’t it the same in the daily life of each individual? And it needs a firm will and faith in the Gospel to get involved in Jesus Christ to make him one’s personal centre of attention in the trouble of the time and everyday life.
Personal knowledge and thoughts to the Gospel and its signification for the participants of the seminar are expressed, activated again and again by concrete and graphic examples of both moderators and interrupted by short phases of silence which offered time to reflect what is said.
Four approaches to the Gospel of Jesus Christ are offered: the teaching of Jesus Christ, his practice, his life and death. To each of these approaches the seminar speakers have prepared an impulse contribution: a quotation from the gospel of John is the start. Then drawings illustrate the practice of Jesus at that time, and after that prayers are read and the “Story of Schemil the Righteous” contributes to make understandable the death of Jesus on behalf of others and its significance for the people.
At the end one goes from the small round with a variety of suggestions how one can deal with the Gospel, again and again – not only at the Church Convention!
